Found outside Lyon from a dealer we've worked with for years, this vintage French glass piece came from his father's collection, built up over decades of looking. The pressed glass sits shallow and wide on a knopped stem, the rim finished in a scalloped edge with a fine pattern worked across the dish and down the foot. Stands like it were made to raise fruit or sweets up off the table and into the center of things, a small pedestal for whatever was worth showing. Sylvie fills it with grapes and leaves it out on the table, the kind of piece that looks like nothing until it is full.
