Found outside Lyon from a dealer we've worked with for years, this vintage French glass piece came from his father's collection, built up over decades of looking. The pressed glass is patterned all over in a scaled, leaf-like design that runs from the scalloped rim down the stem to the foot. Cake stands like it were made to raise a tart or a round of cake up off the table, lifting the thing everyone was waiting for into full view. Sylvie keeps it out with something on it or nothing at all, the kind of piece that looks like more than it is the moment the light catches the glass.
