Spanish Marble Mortar - Large

Spain, 19th Century

$345

Antique One-Of-A-Kind Exactly As Pictured

Found in the Catalonian countryside, this large Spanish marble mortar is carved from solid grey stone with a soft, chalky finish, its thick walls and weighty form shaped for daily use in grinding herbs, spices, garlic, and medicinal mixtures. The surface shows gentle wear from years of repetition, the basin worn smooth by hand. Sylvie keeps it in the kitchen, still using it as it was intended, working fresh pesto on slow summer days.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
