Plaster Bas Relief

France, 20th Century

One-Of-A-Kind

Hard To Find

Found in Barjac and dating to the 20th century, this French plaster relief draws directly from earlier decorative traditions, with a central reclining female figure surrounded by putti and a lion being gently led, an allegorical composition long associated with love softening strength. The figures are modeled in low relief, their forms emerging just enough from the surface to catch light and shadow, a technique used for centuries to tell stories across walls and ceilings. Sylvie places it above an entry table or on open shelving, where these figures will steal the show.

Minor variations from the images may occur unless otherwise noted. All sales are final.
